Estrés y Sobrepeso EmocionalCasi todo lo que sabemos del estrés, se relaciona con temas como la defensa, las preocupaciones, los problemas personales y la supervivencia a situaciones de peligro extremo. Pocas veces se nos dice que es la energía de la vida y que de la forma en la que decidamos utilizarlo de acuerdo a nuestra personalidad y carácter, así serán los resultados que tendremos al decidirnos a vencer al sobrepeso y por esta razón, tiene una relación íntima con la autoestima, la ansiedad y el estrés. |
Como en todas las manifestaciones de la Salud Emocional, la forma en la que reaccionamos al estrés y a algunos de sus elementos como el tiempo, o la carga de preocupaciones, tiene una consecuencia y en el caso del sobrepeso, es un tema que puede obligarnos a querer comer sin control para no sentirnos peor, o perdidos ante los problemas o las crisis y sus consecuencias. |

El estrés es un recurso de valor absoluto y cuando aprendemos a entenderlo y utilizarlo de forma positiva. Puede darnos la clave del éxito para lograr ese equilibrio emocional – psicológico y físico, que nos permite una vida con mayor satisfacción, salud y realización. Su desequilibrio por el contrario, es causa de enfermedad física y de limitación en las capacidades del intelecto y la inteligencia. |
Debido a que el estrés es una de las expresiones de la personalidad, las respuestas que tenemos están en función de esta. |
La relación entre sobrepeso y estrésDebido a que las reacciones hormonales del cortisol y de la adrenalina del estrés movilizan la glucosa de nuestro organismo para disponer de energía al enfrentar cualquier amenaza a nuestra integridad, al no utilizarse, esta vuelve a ser parte del tejido adiposo. Ante repetidos estímulos que causan ansiedad, temor, intranquilidad y depresión, sin ejercicio ni actividad física que utiliza estas reservas, el peso empieza a aparecer junto al volumen hasta llegar a ser un mayor sobrepeso. Nuestra personalidad, interpreta todos los estímulos del medio ambiente y de las personas con quienes no se tiene una buena relación, activando el estrés negativo o distrés y pone a funcionar los mecanismos físicos y psicológicos que nos hacen sentir rechazo. El resultado inmediato es la necesidad de liberarse de ese estimulo negativo que impone la ansiedad resultante. De acá a comer nuevamente sin control y en exceso o romper la voluntad de combatir el sobrepeso volviendo a comer; solo hay un paso: darse por vencido. |
Las consecuencias del estrés negativo o distrés, van desde la aparición del acné y la caída del cabello, a los dolores tensionales de cabeza, espasmos musculares, alteraciones hormonales, cambios en la inmunidad, gastritis, colon irritable, espástico y por supuesto, el incremento de los trastornos de personalidad como el Obsesivo Compulsivo, las actitudes perfeccionistas y cuadros de conversión. En el Programa Liberación Emocional del Sobrepeso, uno de los temas de más valor, es poder revisar las actitudes y respuestas que hemos desarrollado ante aquellos los estímulos que nos invitan a manifestar ansiedad como el resultado de no comprender como expresar la tensión y sus consecuencias. |
